For delicate parts and loads that have a high sensitivity to movement, Oxy-Gon has designed the ideal solution in the form of our BF Series Bell Furnace. With the most sensitive loads in mind, our bell-style furnace has been designed for optimal performance and ease of use. It features a stationary bottom hearth used for staging the load, which is then combined with a chamber that is lowered over the product and clamped in place to ensure completely uniform heating.

The BF Series Bell Furnace is designed to optimize space, performance, and flexibility for a wide variety of heat treating, laboratory, and production applications. On top of this, the all-stainless steel, tungsten, or molybdenum hot zones provide an environment particularly fitting for applications that require minimal particulate contamination, ranging from semiconductor production to applications involving medical devices.

The Furnace Assembly

The furnace assembly for Oxy-Gon's premiere bell-style furnace consists of the chamber, top cover, and bottom access cover. Every part of the furnace assembly is double walled, 304L stainless steel, and electropolished to attain the highest quality surface finish. Additional ports are incorporated into the heat chamber for sight windows, thermocouples, and process gas. Power to the furnace's heating element is supplied through nickel plated water cooled power feedthroughs.

Heat Zone

The cylindrical tungsten or molybdenum element and tungsten/molybdenum heat shield assembly are fixed inside the chamber of the BF Series Bell Furnace to allow for greater ease when loading the fixtures and materials for processing.

Power Supply

Power supplies for the Bell Furnace can be provided with any of the following characteristics: three phase 380 or 480 volts and 50 or 60 Hertz. A typical power supply incorporates a step down transformer, SCR, circuit breaker, contactor, amp and volt meters.

Temperature Control

Temperature control for the Bell Furnace includes a programmable process temperature controller and separate over temperature limiter. Recorders and data logging devices specific to your requirements are available as options as well. Types of sensors available include thermocouple, optical pyrometer, and power transducers.

Pumping System

The BF Series Bell Furnace features a fully automatic PLC controlled pumping system, provided for the range of 10-2 Torr (rough vacuum with mechanical pump). Our standard system is automatic and consists of a rotary vane or oil free scroll type mechanical pump, isolation valves, and vacuum gauge controller. The system will consistently operate in the 10-2 Torr range.

Inert Gas/Nitrogen System

To allow for operation using inert (Noble) gases or Nitrogen, a kit which includes inlet and outlet valves and a pressure/vacuum gauge will be supplied with your Bell Furnace.

Wet or Dry Hydrogen System

The BF Series Bell Furnace is also compatible with an optional system that can be manual or fully automatic, using flow control and variable percent mixing of hydrogen with other gasses. All necessary safety interlocks and devices, such as safety relief port, igniter, etc., are included with this system. In addition, the system also conforms to NFPA 86 Standards for Ovens and Furnaces.
